His official title is Senior Compliance Agent for Anima Dynamics. His actual function is the corporation's most effective and ruthless troubleshooter.

History and context

Silas Barrett was recruited into Anima Dynamics by Kaelen Corbin himself. He was, by every available measure, brilliant and idealistic. He became Kaelen's protégé, his most promising investigator. Twelve years ago, he was present at the Eidolon Incident.

When the operation failed in ways Anima had not anticipated, Silas faced a choice. Side with his mentor and be destroyed by the corporation, or side with the corporation and betray the man who made him. He chose survival. He not only participated in the cover-up. He actively constructed the narrative that destroyed Kaelen's career and reputation, attributing the incident to Corbin's own negligence.

He has spent the twelve years since climbing the corporate ladder on the foundation of that lie. He is now the very thing Kaelen once trained him to hunt.

Methods and capabilities

Barrett is a master strategist who treats threats not as personal insults but as analytical problems, interesting variables to be managed. He excels at using corporate and legal systems as weapons and is utterly ruthless when he perceives a threat to his position. His analytical precision manifests as a cold, scientific curiosity. He dissects. He does not react.

His greatest operational vulnerability is also his most defining psychological feature: a deep, unacknowledged connection to Kaelen Corbin. Kaelen was his mentor. Some functional part of Silas still operates on the principles Kaelen taught him, creating a psychological blind spot and a buried guilt that drives his aggression beyond what pure professional calculation would warrant. He does not hunt Kaelen to eliminate a liability. He hunts him to silence the walking embodiment of what he chose to become.
